MT. HOPE

Our location provides an excellent opportunity for residential development as well as limited commercial and industrial development. Our community has extended its boundaries to allow for development to occur within the city and take advantage of the city services that can be provided. Two residential and one commercial development have been opened and are examples of the opportunities that are already available. Living in Mt. Hope puts you minutes from two large cities while at the same time enjoying the amenities of a small town. Our city offers many things for our citizens to do: American Legion Post, Masonic Lodge, Community/Senior Center, Girl Scouts, Little League, Library, and many recreational programs throughout the year.

We also have an Elementary School, Nursing Home, Post Office, First National Bank, Farmer's Co-Op, 2 churches (Methodist and Federated) and many other daily amenities of small town life. Please visit us and consider our community as your next home for your family or your business.

REASONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER MOUNT HOPE

            LOCATION

Being in a safe, rural community yet close to two large cities on the four lane K-96 limited access highway, places Mount Hope in an excellent location.  With the K-96 highway immediately adjacent to our city, we are minutes from services and jobs not available in our community.

            QUALITY OF LIFE

With one of the best senior care physical care facilities in the state plus immediate available emergency services in a rural community area with extremely low crime, places Mount Hope as a very desirable location for families and citizens of all ages. The very active Larson Community Center has become focal point of the community for many activities and events.

The elementary school and middle school is relatively new and is located within walking distance from any residence in the community and provides excellent instruction.  Students in the Mount Hope school system have achieved rankings above 90%  percentile in all areas of testing and approximately 8% above the state standard.  A day care and pre-school facility is located adjacent to the school complex.

Our youth is also vitally important to our community and is provide Scouting organizations, summer recreation programs and fall and winter events such as Fall Festival and Santa’s day activities.

Housing in Mount Hope is available through the recent opening of two residential areas for development.  Two homes have been completed in one of these developments with additional homes being planned in the very near future.

Mount also provides an American Legion Post for veterans, Masonic Lodge and an excellent library for all ages.  The very active PRIDE program and volunteer groups provides the community a strong core of dedication and loyalty to their community.

INCENTIVES AND ATMOSPHERE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT

Realizing the importance of marketing their community, the Mount Hope city council adopted a Neighborhood Revitalization program in 2008.  This program provides tax rebates to new and expanding developments within the city limits of Mount Hope and can under some circumstances provide a 100% tax rebate to business and industrial development projects.

The city has continued to emphasize the importance of infrastructure and has initiated an on-going electrical upgrade program.  This program is providing underground electrical distribution which is replacing vulnerable overhead lines that have proven to be unreliable in severe weather situations.

Providing water to new development areas is a priority and has initiated a study to  provide adequate quantity and high quality of water to all areas of the city as it expands beyond its current area.

          OUR BUSINESSES

We have an excellent banking facility which serves the community and surrounding area.  Our farmer’s coop is vital to our agriculture community which is the major industry in our community.  Mount Hope is also home to Howard’s Inc, a statewide recognized dealer for parts for all ages and types of farm equipment as well as an affiliation with NAPA autor parts.  A-1  Truck Warehouse provides high quality tire and truck repair capabilities and is known as own of the best in the area.

BUSINESS, RESIDENTIAL AND INDUSTRIAL NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY

Mount Hope, a community of approximately 857 citizens, has the following priority needs:

  1. Full service convenience and fueling facility
  2. Small manufacturing or assembly companies
